Originally built as Rutland 4-6-0 ten wheeler #483 by Alco-Schenectady in August of 1902, it was later renumbered NYC&HR #2055 in 1904. Then in 1914 it was superheated and renumbered Rutland #55 as seen here. The loco was retired in April of 1948 and presumedly scrapped after nearly 46 years of service. Specs - 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 21x26" cylinders, engine wt of 165,000 lb and tractive effort of 30,600 lb. No date or location was given for the photo so approximates were used. This is a J.R. Quinn photo. |
